Spokespeople Exhibit Opening & Community Bike Ride

This photography and graphic design exhibit showcases the work of artists Khalid Ibrahim and Terry Sieting. The mission for this project is the belief that everyone is a bicyclist. The artists are working to challenge the perspective of cycling to non-bicyclists and and bicyclists alike. This movement sets out to inform the public about the world of cycling through effective communication.

Have you ever taken a bike ride with 20 – 70 other people? Join the Lansing Bike Party for one of their many community bike rides. This is a fun way to bike the Lansing area, meet new people and to get to the MICA Gallery for the opening of our newest exhibit! Join the Lansing Bike Party for a city wide bike ride from the Peanut Barrel in East Lansing at 6pm to the MICA Gallery for the opening of this show.

Refreshments will be served including mocktails (non-alcoholic cocktails) will by a mixologist from our local distillery American Fifth Spirits.

“Curating Roots: The Art of the Local Food Movement in Lansing” Opening

Join us on to celebrate the opening reception of MICA Gallery’s newest exhibit Curating Roots: The Art of the Local Food Movement in Lansing. This exhibit explores urban farming, community gardens, farm to table restaurants and local non-profits that create a dynamic local food movement in our community. This exhibit is co-curated by Katrina M. Daniels and Emma Foley.

The opening reception welcomes the community with a meeting of music and local food. Musician Chelsea Koziatek accompanied by a group of musicians will play music live while dishes created by a chef from Soup Spoon based on the music are served. Artist and actor Katie Doyle will describe the food and the music as it is served.
