Dance in the Gallery

The performers of DANCE Lansing: A Community Dance Project perform monthly at MICA Gallery. After the performance there will be an open discussion with the dancers and choreographers.

Dance Lansing is a collaboration with goals of building a diverse community of dancers to enrich the creative performance and development opportunities for area choreographers and dancers, and to increase audience appreciation and understanding of modern and contemporary dance. The foundation of this collaboration is a partnership of Happendance, Lansing Community College Performing Arts, Fusion Dance Center, Greater Lansing Ballet Company, MSU Orchesis Dance and MICA.

This family friendly event is free & open to the public.

Provided with funding support from Downtown Lansing, Inc., the City of Lansing, the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Health and Healing: A Dance Performance Inspired by Megan Hildebrandt’s “One New Day” Exhibit

Contemporary art inspires Contemporary movement in our upcoming dance performance, “Health and Healing”. Inspired by our current exhibit, “One New Day” a solo show by artist Megan Hildebrandt, dancers will use movement to explore much of the same themes that the artist explored in her work.

DANCE Lansing: The Community Dance Project brings Contemporary movement to MICA Gallery monthly. This organization creates opportunities for the community experience Contemporary movement in an accessible way while creating opportunities for area choreographers and dancers to perform.

The foundation of this collaboration is a partnership between Happendance and Lansing Community College Performing Arts. Associates include Everett High School Dance Program, Fusion Dance CenterGreater Lansing Academy of DanceMICA, Michigan State University Department of Theatre, and MSU Orchesis Dance.

“Modern Mythos” Dance Performance

The performers of DANCE Lansing: A Community Dance Project perform monthly at MICA Gallery. After the performance there will be an open discussion with the dancers and choreographers.

This special performance will have some dances inspired by MICA’s current exhibit, “Modern Mythos” by artist “Bradon Bradon Badeau Art. Join us at MICA Gallery to see how contemporary art inspires contemporary movement!

The foundation of this collaboration is a partnership of Happendance and Lansing Community College Performing Arts, with Fusion Dance Center, Greater Lansing Ballet Company and MSU Orchesis added as Associates.
