KIELWAHL, May 3 – 25, 2014

JeffersonKielwagenImageKIELWAHL springs out of a two-year collaboration between Dylan Wahl (USA) and Jefferson Kielwagen (Brazil). Their art work employs mixed media, and is best described as conceptual. They are mainly interested in psychoanalysis, philosophy and language. The works displayed here speak about a number of things: the creation of value, a passive-aggressive poetics, fetishization, repetition and excess, among other, more subtle topics, to be discovered by the attentive viewer. Some of the artists’ main influences are Roman Signer (Switzerland), Michael Craig-Martin (UK) and Marina Abramović (Serbia).

Exhibition Dates: May 3-25, 2014
Opening Reception: May 4, 12-4pm

Andrew Peterson: Gnosis

Andrew Peterson PosterAndrew Peterson: Gnosis
April 5-27, 2014
Opening Reception: April 6, 12-4pm

Andrew Peterson is an artist based out of Lansing, Michigan. Each piece in his Gnosis series has its own unique meaning and provides a multilevel viewing experience. There is an underlying theme of monism, of oneness, that carries through most of Andrew’s work. Some work is purely emotional expression, while others combine the philosophical and the spiritual. Andrew explores how often one looks solely at the big picture, missing the details. He forces the viewer to look deeper, staring into every detail, delving into the image, getting lost in it.

The image as a whole is made more powerful and meaningful by the small details, and the details are made more powerful by the overall image.

Andrew is influenced by everything he sees. He is influenced by artists Salvador Dali, H.R. Giger, and M.C. Esher.
