The LCC Faculty Jazz Quartet Concert

The LCC Faculty Jazz Quartet swings into Old Town for a free Sunday afternoon concert at 4 p.m. March 27 in the MICA Gallery.

Established in 2007, the Quartet consists of faculty members Mike Daniels, drums; Ed Fedewa, bass; Jonathon Gewirtz, saxophone; and Dennis Therrian, piano.  In addition to performing a wide variety of jazz music including hard-bop, Latin jazz, and standards, the Quartet also strives for a unique sound featuring original music by each member. The March 27th concert will feature their compositions, highlighting their four years of performing together. The group is currently recording their first CD which will be out later this spring.

The mission of the LCC Faculty Jazz Quartet is to develop and support an appreciation for jazz music in Lansing and the surrounding communities through performances and educational outreach programs. The group models jazz styles for LCC students and prospective students through concerts and workshops. The LCCFJQ performs one concert every semester in Dart Auditorium on the campus of Lansing Community College; this is their first appearance at the MICA Gallery.
