SUMMARY:Health and Healing: A Dance Performance Inspired by Megan Hildebrandt's "One New Day" Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Contemporary art inspires Contemporary movement in our upcoming dance performance\, “Health and Healing”. Inspired by our current exhibit\, “One New Day” a solo show by artist Megan Hildebrandt\, dancers will use movement to explore much of the same themes that the artist explored in her work. \nDANCE Lansing: The Community Dance Project brings Contemporary movement to MICA Gallery monthly. This organization creates opportunities for the community experience Contemporary movement in an accessible way while creating opportunities for area choreographers and dancers to perform. \nThe foundation of this collaboration is a partnership between Happendance and Lansing Community College Performing Arts. Associates include Everett High School Dance Program\, Fusion Dance Center\, Greater Lansing Academy of Dance\, MICA\, Michigan State University Department of Theatre\, and MSU Orchesis Dance. \nThis event is free and family friendly. DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to the February meeting of the poetry club where the members will write\, discuss poetry and end with an open mic! \nParticipants in the Open Mike are invited to read a poem involving some aspect of peace\, which can include any of the following: \n\na moment of peace\na dream of peace\nthe longing/struggle for peace\nthe experience of peace\nobstacles to peace\npeace as it manifests in our lives\nways that we create peace in our lives\npeace in the midst of conflict\nthe ingredients needed for peace\n\nWe will have a basket of peace poems at the door\, plus delicious refreshments. \nThe Open Mike will be followed by a brief meeting to discuss upcoming programming at the Lansing Poetry Club. \nLansing Poetry Club is the longest running poetry club in the Lansing area. This group of writers\, poets and poetry lovers meet on the third Sunday of every month at MICA Gallery to write and discuss poetry. \n
